About This Stove

This elegant work horse is one of the largest eco design models in the Ecosy+ line up. A robust steel body and chunky cast door combine to make a stove which weighs over 116kg with a 12kw output. It may be a weighty lift to get into the fireplace, but this robust build will increase the longevity of the fire and help it to retain the heat for longer than thinner built units. This unit is not just robust on the outside, this theme follows through to the inside too. When you open the door you are greeted by a substantial log retainer that will help to deflect rolling logs back into the fire and a multi-fuel grate which is perfect for burning both wood and smokeless coal. In addition to the above, this unit also ticks so many boxes, with its large glass frontage, 5″ flue outlet, Defra approval and ability to be connected to a direct air feed if required. All of these reasons above make it a firm favourite with us and a liked unit by installers.

This version of the MF12 comes with a stand that elevates the stove to give it more presence in a larger room or fireplace. The stand also makes for an excellent and convenient log store, perfect for keeping your logs warm, dry, and close by. For the MF12 without stand, please click here.

How It Works

This model has two air inlets.

1. Tertiary air – This is controlled with the right base lever and regulates the air flowing through the series of holes at the stove’s rear. Combined with the twin baffle, this fresh injection of air re-burns the initial smoke produced by the fire before it is expelled from the chimney.

2 Primary air – Controlled by the left base lever, this gives an injection of air under the fire and is mainly used when burning smokeless coal.

3. Secondary/Air Wash – Controlled by a knob on the top, this regulates the air flowing onto the glass. This injection of air helps to keep the glass clean and clear of smoke stains.

5 Year Guarantee

This covers the stove’s body and not the internal perishable parts like grates and fire bricks. Guarantee is activated when the stove is invoiced. 6-digit number on the top of each invoice is the warranty number. For stove to be covered it must be installed by a HETAS/OFTEC engineer or signed off by building control.

DEFRA Approved

The Ottawa MF12 with stand has been rigorously tested and approved to burn wood in smoke controlled zones. Defra approved stoves with 5″ flue outlets, like this one, can also be installed with a 5″ liner. The Defra approval has been achieved by factory fitting a mechanical stop to prevent secondary air from being fully shut, meaning it will burn slightly faster than if it was removed. To remove the Defra stop there is a small catch which needs turning under the fire.

Stove Construction

The MF12 with stand is a “hybrid” stove, and its body is constructed from quality carbon steel that has been chosen for its plasticity, toughness and weldability. The door is made from very thick mineral cast iron that helps retain the heat and slowly release it into the room. Having a cast iron door also enables us to add features like the shallow curves and elegant detailing. The internal lining is vermiculite and the grate is constructed from heavy-duty cast iron and includes an ash pan. – The stove weighs over 100kg

Why Are We So Cheap?

This is a common question we get asked, and we understand why people wonder how it can be done at such a good price. We are very unique in the way we operate and occupy the whole supply chain through the brands we own. Instead of only selling to the trade, we primarily offer trade prices direct to the end user; this completely cuts out any middle men. We can stock over 5000 stoves at any one time and ship direct to the consumer with no showrooms. We always suggest prospective buyers take a look at our glowing feedback that currently has over 7000 positive comments on our stoves and stove products.
